Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidenced-based therapy that has proven to be an effective modality in helping clients cope effectively PTSD. Through the use of CPT, clients gain understanding of, and modify meanings attributed to their trauma. This technique is taught in three phases which include focus on education and rapport building, formal processing of adversity and teaching of cognitive skills. Each phase will be explained in detail so that participants can apply the techniques effectively in treatment. Dr. Buckingham will share personal stories with participants to help them understand how he used Cognitive Processing Therapy to exchange a lifestyle filled with hardship, disappointment and dread to a lifestyle filled with favor, satisfaction and confidence.
